Tamil Nadu Uniformed Services Recruitment Board has published a Notification in the dailies on 08.03.2022 for filling up of vacancies in Police Department for the posts of 444 Sub-Inspector of Police (Taluk and AR) through direct recruitment in the year 2022.

TNUSRB SI Educational Qualification:
- Candidates should have a Bachelor’s Degree from any University recognized by UGC / Government on the date of Notification.
- The Bachelor’s Degree should have been obtained in the following pattern:-
a) After completion of SSLC and Higher Secondary course in the order of 10+2+3 pattern or
b) After completion of SSLC and Diploma in the order of 10+3+2 / 10+3+3 pattern or
c) From an Open University / Distance Education/ College after completion of SSLC and I.T.I in the order of 10+2+3 pattern.
III. However, candidates who have obtained Bachelor’s degree through Open - Universities without going through the above-mentioned pattern will not be eligible.
20% PSTM PREFERENCE:
At every stage of selection, 20% of all the vacancies shall be set apart on a preferential basis for the open candidates who have studied in Tamil Medium. To claim this concession, the entire education of the candidate should essentially be in Tamil medium for all the classes from 1st Std. to 10th Std., 11th Std. & 12th Std. and first studied Bachelor’s Degree

STAGES OF RECRUITMENT FOR OPEN CANDIDATES
Written Exam:
Part I. Tamil Language Eligibility Test:
- The Tamil Language Eligibility Test is qualifying in nature.
- It will be an objective type.
- It will consist of 100 questions for 100 marks and the duration of the examination will be 100 minutes (1 Hr 40 mins.)
- The candidate has to obtain a minimum of 40 marks (40%) in the Tamil Language Eligibility test, for him/her to be eligible for evaluation of their main examination OMR answer sheet.
- The marks obtained in Tamil Language Eligibility Test will not be considered for the preparation of the provisional selection list at any stage.
- In respect of 20% of Departmental candidates, the Tamil Language Eligibility Test will be commonly conducted along with those who are applying in open quota.
- The candidates who have applied under BOTH Open and Departmental categories will have to write the commonly conducted Tamil Language Eligibility Test only once.
Part II. Main Written examination:
The Main written examination consists of Part-A – General Knowledge and Part-B – Logical Analysis, Numerical Analysis, Psychology Test, Communication Skills, and Information Handling Ability. Written examination total marks are 70.
- Part.A – 40 Marks consisting of 80 Questions (objective type).
- Part.B – 30 marks consisting of 60 Questions (objective type).
- Each question carries a ½ mark.
- Duration 2 ½ hours.
- The candidates should get a minimum of 25 marks (35%) to qualify in the written examination.
- However, out of those who qualify in the written examination, only five times the number of notified vacancies shall be permitted for the next stage of selection i.e., PMT, PET, PET & Original Certificate Verification in each category based on the merit and communal rotation.
TNUSRB SI Hall Ticket:
Hall Ticket for written examination: The Hall Tickets of the eligible candidates will be uploaded on the TNUSRB official website
(www.tnusrb.tn.gov.in) before the commencement of the written examination. The candidate can log in to his/her account with a User ID and Password and download the Hall Ticket for attending the Written Examination.
Physical Measurement Test:

The Written Examination for the selection of Sub-Inspectors of Police (Taluk, AR & TSP) will have two parts:
Part I
Tamil Language Eligibility Test [Common for Open Quota and Departmental Quota Candidates] :
- The Tamil Language Eligibility Test is qualifying It will consist of objective-type questions of 1 mark each.
- In respect of 20% of Departmental candidates, the Tamil Language Eligibility Test will be commonly conducted along with those who are applying in open

Syllabus for Tamil Eligibility Test
Objective-type questions will be asked to test the basic knowledge of the Tamil language as taught up to the 10th standard of the Tamil Nadu State Board. The syllabus is divided into three parts:

1. Main Written examination [For Open Quota Candidates]:
The Main Written examination for Open Quota Candidates will be for 70 marks consisting of 140 objective-type questions of ½ mark each. The duration of the examination will be 2 ½ Hours. The candidates should get a minimum of 25 marks to qualify in the written examination. It will consist of :
Part – A – General Knowledge (40 Marks – 80 Questions) Part – B – Psychology Test (30 marks – 60 Questions)

General Knowledge:
The candidates are required to have a general appreciation and understanding of topics as may be expected of a well-educated person without any specialized study. The syllabus includes the following topics:
- General Science: Physics, Chemistry and Biology Inventions, and Discoveries. Scientists and their contributions, Human Physiology, Diseases, and their causes, cure and prevention, Diet and Nutrition, Genetics, Animals, Plants, Environment and Ecology, Elements and compounds, Acids, Bases and Salts and allied subjects, Motion, Properties of Matter, Light, Electricity and other related topics.
- History: Dates and events of Indian History from Indus Valley Civilisation to present-day modern Important events of World history.
- Geography: Regions of India, Monsoon and climate, Crops, Indian Towns and Places, Major Ports, Minerals, Industries, Power Plants, Forests and Wildlife, National Parks, Population distribution in India and other related
- Economics: Agriculture in India, Industrial Development, Rural Development, Price policy, Inflation, Population and Un-employment problems, Imports and Export, 5-year planning and related
- Indian Polity: Indian Constitution, Citizenship, Elections, Parliament and State legislatures, Executive, Judicial system, Local Self Governments, Centre-State Relationship, Foreign Policy and other related

Part – A – (15 Marks – 30 Questions)
- General Knowledge: The Syllabus will be the same as Open Quota Candidates.
Part – B – (70 Marks – 140 Questions)
- Psychology Test: The syllabus for Psychological Test will be the same as Open Quota Candidates.
In addition to the above, the Departmental Quota candidates will have questions on the following police subjects in Part-B.
Indian Penal Code, Criminal Procedure Code, Indian Evidence Act, Police Standing Order, and Police Administration.
